WELCOME TO RET CULTURE
Hello and welcome to Ret’ Culture!
I’ll admit, I’m a bit nervous about diving into the blogging world. It’s been a while since I’ve written outside of film and music, so this is new territory for me. Hopefully, you’ll stick with me as I find my footing and get into the groove of sharing the world of retro culture and building our Ret’ Culture community.
This is just my initial blog to say "Hello" and give you a glimpse of what’s to come. At Ret’ Culture, we’re more than just a blog. We’re a space dedicated to exploring the rich and eclectic world of film, music, fashion, and beyond. We’re not going to delve into politics much; we generally steer clear of that when we can. But if there’s something that fits within our focus, we’re open to discussing it.
I’ve always been drawn to the curious, quirky, offbeat, and unexpected elements of vintage and retro culture—the kinds of things that make you think, “How did I miss this?” or “Wow, that’s fascinating!” Or, as Arsenio Hall would say, “Things that make you go ‘hmm.’” This blog is as much about discovering these hidden gems as it is about sharing my journey with you. Quoting Arsenio Hall? How’s that for retro? Staying true to the theme. Lol
Just a heads up—I’ve been in love with Motown since before I can remember. Motown Records, that little Detroit label that changed the world. Yes, Motown will definitely be a big part of what you find here, thanks to my close connection with the Motown family from when I met many of them at the last Motown picnic when I was just a young teen. I’ll dive into that life-changing day in a future post. If you’re a Motown fan, you’re in for some real treats at Ret’ Culture, especially with our regular Motown Monday posts. If not, this blog might not be your thing, but I really hope it is. Because there will be lots of Motown.
We’ll be diving into everything from the enduring allure of Motown’s hidden facets to the moody world of film noir,** uncovering rare finds, B-sides, and behind-the-scenes stories. Whether it’s an obscure Motown track, an unsung artist, or an intriguing piece of trivia, our focus is on bringing attention to the unique and the unexpected.

As a music creator, I’m looking forward to doing music reviews, as an actor it will be fun to do movie critiques, and updates on everything related to Ret’ Culture. This is a whole new territory for me, and I’m eager to navigate it alongside you. I’m open to hearing what you appreciate and what you’d like more or less of. In fact, I am counting on it—this space is as much yours as it is mine, so dive in and be part of the Ret’.

And here I am as Clarence in Bless This Mess. Clarence had a name but, unfortunately, no dialogue. They say there are no small roles, just small actors. I figure with acting chops like these, who needs lines? Meh.
Though I’ve been a bit reticent about jumping into blogging, I’m excited about connecting with others who share similar interests. If things go well, we might even start a forum to explore the fascinating world of retro culture in more depth. For now, I’m thrilled to have you along as we uncover and celebrate the unique elements of Ret’ Culture.
Stay tuned, stay Ret’.
